These strategic hires reflect EMPEL’s transition from deep innovation to operational execution, positioning the company to meet the rising demand for its brand and capitalize on the global momentum driven by regulatory changes.
Barrett Mooney, Ph.D., is a seasoned public company CEO and operations leader with more than 15 years of experience scaling advanced technology and manufacturing businesses. He has raised over $150 million in capital, for both private and public ventures, and led multiple companies through global expansions. Mooney brings a proven track record in implementing enterprise systems (ERP, CRM), optimizing manufacturing supply chains, and forecasting operational milestones with discipline. At GTT, he will lead the charge to commercialize EMPEL® at scale, bringing rigor, transparency, and accountability to the company’s next phase of growth.
Vasav Sahni, Ph.D., joins as a materials innovation leader with an extensive background in polymer science, biomimicry, and sustainable chemistry. His previous roles include senior R&D leadership at 3M, Zymergen, and Ginkgo Bioworks, where he drove transformative innovation across adhesives, coatings, and synthetic biology. Dr. Sahni holds a Ph.D. in Polymer Science from the University of Akron and a B.Tech. in Textile Technology from IIT Delhi. He is widely published in peer-reviewed journals and has been featured by TEDx and Science Friday. As CTO, he will guide EMPEL®’s technical roadmap, advancing brand testing, application science, and next-generation product development.
